Lead Remediation and Abatement Program

The purpose of this program is to identify and remediate lead‐based paint hazards via interim controls, encapsulation, replacement and/or abatement methods to prevent elevated blood lead levels in children and pregnant women and alleviate the existing identified lead‐based paint hazards for children with elevated blood lead levels (EBLL)

This program also educates New Jersey residents about the dangers of lead poisoning, shares information about lead remediation and helps those who may have confirmed lead contamination in their homes.

Individual or Household may be eligible for up to $13000 worth of home renovations and repairs.

We provide lead remediation and abatement assistance in the following counties.

  • Burlington

  • Camden

  • Ocean

Applicants must meet certain property and income eligibility guidelines

Income Guidelines

  • Participants should be low- to moderate-income homeowners or tenants.
  • The homeowner/occupant and/or the tenant household’s gross income should not exceed 80% of Area Median Income in their respective county.

Property Guidelines

  • Consist of one (1) to four (4) units

  • Built prior to 1978

  • Must have a presence of lead-based paint hazards.
